SPECULATIVE ENCOUNTERS (2022) comissioned by „Rebeldes – Laboratorio Experimental de prácticas feministas“ consists of collectively produced artistic collages, performative texts and audio reflections. The installation is based on a self-designed thinking device, which further explores and visualizes our collective cosmos of female references (artists, women writers, goddesses, politicians, etc.). This thinking device, in the form of a questionnaire imagines a speculative encounter with one of the self-selected „feminist ancestresses“ and initiates an intertemporal dialogue with this ancestress.
SPECULATIVE ENCOUNTERS engages with the notion of collage as a patchwork medium between fantastic collective settings, structural & social critique and canonized historiography. The installation bridges affective and discursive levels - from individual perspectives to collective, shared visions - and will be expanded in the course of the ‘speculative encounters’ with external artists* and their feminist ancestors.feminist ancestors.
