 "ABC_ein Spiel ohne Scherz"

"ABC_ein Spiel ohne Scherz" is a performance piece by MATERNAL FANTASIES, integrating children, mothers and a grandmothers. The main idea is to learn from different generations, tapping into an intergenerational perspective, and discovering new ways of supporting each other beyond just the relationship between moms and kids.

In this project, the group combines ideas about feminism with personal stories from the performers and thoughts about the future imagined by the kids. This project is a playful yet serious response to not giving enough value to the work of taking care of others, especially in a system like capitalism. They want to create new meanings that challenge the usual ideas about motherhood and artistic creativity, as well find strategies for collectivity. 

The live show is suited for all ages. It follows the structure of the alphabet, with some of the letters turning into keywords that guide the different scenes. MATERNAL FANTASIES works together using a rotating authorship approach, where different people contribute to the project in multiple layers. 

The project also includes four short videos that complement the live show. These videos invite artists and caregivers from around the world to join in by making their own videos and offering their own perspectives to the topics. The videos are part of an instagram campaign, open to new participants. That is how they hope to create a diverse and interesting alphabet that goes beyond borders.
